A Class of 2020 Rutgers University student will speak Friday at a virtual commencement event that will feature dozens of luminaries and celebrities from the art, entertainment, sports, fashion, media, business and non-profit worlds.
Emely Guevara, who graduates with a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Newark campus, was chosen from a large amount of submissions to speak at the worldwide event known as “I’m Still Graduating,” which will begin at noon on Friday, organizers said.
Guerva, who minored in legal studies, worked last summer at the Office of the Attorney General, under the Division of Consumer Affairs.
“Emely is currently preparing to attend law school in hopes of becoming one of the nation’s top practicing criminal law attorneys and one day, attorney general of the United States,” Her Campus Media, which is sponsoring the event, said in a news release.
A handful of other students from around the country will also speak at the virtual graduation.
Her Campus on Wednesday announced the full lineup, which can be watched at ImStillGraduating.com, will include inspiring trailblazers, entertainers and politicians uniting behind the Class of 2020.
Scheduled are performances by Liam Payne, Austin Mahone, Jesse McCartney, Drax Project, Grouplove and many others.
There will also be appearances by actor and author Nico Tortorella, investigative reporter Jodi Kantor, Chicago Red Stars’ Kealia Ohai Watt, Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd and others.
